A 91-year-old Canadian veteran is being denied access to a veterans' hospital even though there are empty beds in the facility. Gordon Smith was part of the British Royal Navy in 1945, later immigrated to Canada and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force for nearly two decades. The federal government has previously recognized his service during the Second World War, but it's not enough to let him live out his last days the way he wants.
